MTIA 2010 Annual Conference in Daytona Beach

Peter Minio and Richard Blum from R+B Sten-Tel attended the MTIA 2010 Annual Conference in Daytona Beach last week.  The topics varied, but centered around transcription technologies and how as an industry we have an opportunity to accelerate EMR adoption and bring new value to the physician community.  Most notably, there was a discussion on how Natural Language Processing (NLP) can meet Meaningful Use and accelerate HIT adoption.  Like Discrete Reportable Transcription (DRT), NLP is the next wave of technology to meet the growing needs physicians have due to the shortfalls in EMR technology as well as the increased requirements for reporting and structured data for Meaningful Use.
